Russian investigative journalism website Proekt found that the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev and his family use a 74-meter yacht worth 100 million dollars. The survey was published on the site’s website.
In the yacht according to the photos, there is helipad, personal office and dedicated communications system. In the waters of the Russian Federation the yacht Vselenaya (“Universe”) is usually accompanied by Russian warships, as the journalists claim.
The “Proekt” website, claiming that this particular yacht is used by Dmitry Medvedevcites Turkish observer Yoruk Isik, who monitors ships plying the Bosphorus, Turkish observers from the NGO Nordic Monitor as well as a source among yacht brokers.
Finally, a marina employee in the city of Sochi, where it is currently anchored and guarded the boat, he describes her as “Medvedev’s yacht” and “governess”, the report says.
Journalists believe that the yacht was bought by the billionaire Igor Yusufov. The owner of the boat is not listed while the boat is built by the Dutch office Damen Yachting in 2018and is registered to the Cayman Islands offshore company Southerner Ltd.
“Proekt” points out, citing information from the specialized service VesselFinder, that in July 2020, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the yacht “Universe” was sailing in the waters of the Mediterranean with its transponder disabled. On the boat, according to journalists, were on board Menvedev’s son Ilya and Igor Yusufov’s son Maxim.
In March 2017 Alexei Navalny and his team in an investigation they published about Dmitry Menvedev, mentioned Dmitry Menvedev’s luxury properties. According to the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) Medvedev owns the yacht Fotinia worth about 10 million dollars.
