Without Public transport Athens will stay on Wednesday, as the workers in buses, trolleys, Metro, ISAP and Tram participate in the 24-hour strike who declared their unions. In 24-hour strike who proclaimed it Labor Center of Athens for Wednesday, September 21, the transport workers’ unions of Athens are participating, on the occasion of a bill for the DEKOs of the super fund.

So on Wednesday Buses and Trolleys will not operate from the start of the shift until its end. In all probability, the 60 bus lines that have been allocated to KTEL will still be in use. The workers also participate in the strike SUBWAY, ISAP and Tram, according to the announcement of the STASY unions. The announcement states: “While society experiences, every day, the consequences of the privatization of PPC, with the dramatic increases in the price of electricity, the Government promotes its plans for the privatization of E.Y.D.A.P.” and the Public Transport companies, such as O.A.S.A., STA.SY. and OSY, not caring about the consequences of the profit-seeking filth, which will exist for the greatest good, water and Urban Transportation.

The bill, which is in the Parliament and implements this design, in order to facilitate privatization, also provides for a series of regulations, which lead to the dissolution of labor relations, create workers of many speeds within the same workplace and further undermine the role of collective bargaining .

In particular, newly hired employees are excluded from the Operational Collective Labor Agreements and their dismissal is facilitated, even if they have
hired for an indefinite period. Also, for the first time, the existence of “rented” workers is foreseen in these companies. At the same time, in a crescendo of old partisanship and customer relations service with the specific bill: a) the role of ASEP in personnel recruitment is limited, b)
the commissions in direct assignments are strengthened and c) the door is opened for the recruitment of highly paid “golden boys” as it is possible to recruit for the positions of General Managers and Directors, undermining the career development of the existing staff.

All together the employees of the capital’s Urban Transport will fight, with all our strength, to prevent the passing of this extreme bill. We are participating in the 24-hour strike of the Athens Labor Center on Wednesday 9-21-2022, as well as the protest rally at 12:00 at the Ministry of Finance.
