Hamas: Proposes complete disarmament if a Palestinian state is established

Khalil al-Hayya’s comments in an interview on Wednesday come amid an impasse in months-long ceasefire talks. The proposal to disarm Hamas is a major concession as the armed group has declared its goal to destroy Israel.

However, the proposal is not expected to be accepted by Israel, which has vowed to crush Hamas after the October 7 attacks.
