In energy savingwhich can reach from 20% to 25%aims at Municipality of Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmeni. And this through telematics at street lighting intensity, that is, with one “smart” management system which has been installed in the municipality since 2017 and can schedule the decrease in intensity of LED lamps gradually in the midnight hours, in the primary and secondary network of the urban fabric, within its jurisdiction.

This reduction is estimated by the municipal Authority as will achieve energy savings of over 20%without reducing the brightness on the roads to a level lower than permitted, for safety reasons.

His placement new street lighting network with 6,000 modern LED lamps has been measured to increase the brightness by a percentage ranging from 120% to 180%, resulting in the final street brightness during the period when the intensity will be reduced to save energy, significantly higher than it was before the installation of the new network.

In this way the Municipality of Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmenis attempts to contribute to the overall effort to reduce electricity consumption and its treatment energy crisisfurther reducing consumption, as the savings it has achieved in recent years reach 50% compared to the past.

At the same time, the municipal authority invited the residents of the city to contribute to the general effort to reduce consumption, by proper management of their home lighting and electrical appliances.
