In the warehouses of the producers of Ilia, the raisin is waiting for a price… in order to go to the markets but so far the landscape is very cloudy with the growers not knowing what to do…
Even the price per kilo that was agreed at the meeting held at the SKOS offices in Patras has been violated since, as the farmers say, from the 1.25 euros per kilo that was agreed upon, the Paneigial Union of Cooperatives gives 1.16 euros, while the other private individuals have not not appear at all.
Faced with this situation, most of the producers of Ilia decided to keep it in the warehouses until they see how the raisin will eventually move.
In the warehouses
There are not a few who, in front of this foggy landscape in relation to the price of raisins, have decided to wait for the situation to clear up by placing this year’s production in their own storage areas.
“We have the raisins in the warehouses and we are waiting to see what will happen. Unsolicited price since even the 1.25 agreed at the end of August in a meeting in Patras does not seem to apply exactly… We don’t know what we will do. We expected income from the raisin to cover needs and now no one knows what will happen. In the last two days the fertilizers took another 50% up. The prices for vines and grapes are humiliating. Nobody knows what will happen”, Mr Dimitris Dimitroulopoulos from Vrohitsa.
In the next few days it is expected that the last ones will have completed the harvest in Ilia without being able to sell their production at a price that will ensure that they will at least cover their expenses
