The Regional Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnautakis, was visited today by the student of the 5th General Lyceum of Heraklion, Anna Panagiotakis, winner of the European competition “Juvenes Translatores” organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation since 2007 and aimed at Secondary Education students from the countries of the European Union.

The meeting was attended by the Regional Councilor for European and International Relations Giorgos Alexakis, the President of the Parents’ Association Eleftheria Nirgianaki, the Director of the 5th General Lyceum of Heraklion Maria Drakonaki, the English Literature teacher Eleni Daskalogiannakis who was in charge of the program and the student’s relatives.

Anna Panagiotaki referred to the experience she had from her participation in the competition and from the special event that took place in Brussels where she traveled representing Greece and met the winners of the competition from the 27 EU countries. Young people, parents and teachers got to know European Commission translators up close at their place of work and participated in a series of events with the award ceremony as the highlight.

The Regional Governor of Crete congratulated the young student on the success, pointed out that it is an important, honorable distinction which is a strong motivation for a creative course in her studies and professional choice and wished her to achieve the goals she has set.
