In the dock Lefteris Kretsos and six others for the pastures of Kalogritsa

Accused of false certification, the former General Secretary of Information Lefteris Kretsos will appear today before the three-member minor court of Athens.

The former close associate of Nikos Pappas during the television license tender period in 2016 is on trial together with five other members of the tender committee because, according to the judicial authorities, they allegedly turned a “blind eye” regarding the control of the property status of the interest company Kalogritsa, so that it can take part in the tender. Ioannis Kalogritsas, son of the “red” contractor Christos Kalogritsa, has been brought to court as the moral perpetrator.

The case had been archived, but in 2019 the then Prosecutor of Appeals Panagiotis Athanasiou withdrew it and reached a conclusion – “dead end”.
As noted, Mr. Kretsos and the accused members of the committee proceeded to issue a false certificate, “with the sole purpose of favoring the company of Ioannis-Vladimiros Kalogritsa, without controlling at all, or at least not substantially, the manner of acquiring the assets with which would pay the amount of his offer, or taking into account documents and supporting documents, which based on the announcement they should not and could not take into account”.

In another part of the prosecutor’s conclusion, there was the conclusion that “the Special Five-Member Committee for the Conduct of Tenders established by the General Secretariat of Information and Communication for the granting of 4 licenses to providers of terrestrial digital television broadcasting content for the national reception of informational programs of general content for high-definition transmission did not carry out , as it was due, in accordance with the terms of the announcement, the required verification of the adequacy of the origin and method of acquisition of the financial means of the temporary superior company “Kalogritsas SA”.
