Shortly after midnight, MAT forces attacked with tear gas and flash bangs, in order to stop the concert of Thanasis Papakonstantinou inside the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. About 5,000 people were at that time in the University area, with the situation becoming suffocating.
Right now, as reported by the journalist, Christos Avramidis, the University resembles a camp, with police officers everywhere, while thousands of people fled after the police threw chemicals into the crowd. People, however, remain concentrated.
After the attack, Thanasis Papakonstantinou, Dimitris Mystakidis and the musicians came back on stage and sang with the people who had stayed.
The events were commented on by the press representative of SYRIZA, Nasos Iliopoulos: “The attack by the police with chemicals shows the dangerous path followed by the Mitsotakis regime. In a delirium of authoritarianism, they endanger the physical integrity of the assembled world”
A spontaneous march followed in the center of Thessaloniki, in Egnatia, while afterwards, a group of people set up barricades. EL.AS continued spraying chemicals in the main streets of Thessaloniki, while the wind also took action.
