Alexis Kalokairinos seized the opportunity

The Minos 2024 exercise was a prime opportunity to expose any operational gaps in the emergency response mechanism. This opportunity was taken advantage of by Alexis Kalokairinos, who identified them and is already updating, together with his colleagues, any civil protection plans the Municipality had, having even set strict dates for the completion of the procedures.

At the same time, the municipal authority reminded the citizens of the open assembly areas, highlighted the mobile telecommunications and networks unit available to the Municipality of Heraklion (which enables communication at staff level via radios, something necessary due to the overloading of mobile networks in emergencies cases), while he saw in practice how the overall planning of the Municipality works.

Mayor Alexis Kalokairinos certainly drew useful conclusions from this exercise. And the only thing that is certain is that he will use these conclusions for further improvement, so that, when and if necessary – something we all avoid – the Municipality of Heraklion can adequately respond to its role.
