epa11280833 White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre (L) and US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby hold the daily press briefing in the James S. Brady Briefing Room at the White House in Washington, DC, USA. EPA, BONNIE CASH POOL
The representative of the National Council White House security chief John Kirby said that there is no specific visit by Tayyip Erdogan in the presidential schedule.
Mr. Kimberly was responding to questions from the White House’s accredited correspondents. Here is the dialogue:
QUESTION: A question about Turkey. In two weeks, President Erdogan is expected at the White House for a visit. Last Saturday he hosted the leader of Hamas. Is that going to be, you know, a matter — a matter of discussion, or is it going to compromise the visit?
KIRBY: There is nothing on the schedule to talk about in terms of a specific visit by President Erdogan. So, I have no comment on that.
QUESTION: And for the one hosting the leader of Hamas?
KIRBY: Again, I will let President Erdogan speak in the meetings he has. We have been very clear about our position on Hamas and who they are and what they stand for. I’ll leave it at that.
