According to a Sun publication, o Paolo Liuzzo died in a room at the civilM Miami Worldcenter Hotel at 3:34 PM (local time) on February 7. His body was reportedly flown back to his hometown of Long Island, New York, where his funeral was held on February 16.
Official Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department told the Sun that his death is “being investigated as an overdose” although the investigation is “open and ongoing.” Additionally, a friend of Liuzzo told the Sun that “Paolo was not doing well on a personal level. He loved parties and gambling. She had started using many pharmaceutical drugs initially but this later led to cocaine and harder drugs. He was always borrowing money to pay off old loans. It was a vicious cycle.”
According to the death certificate, Paolo Liuzzo worked as an Art consultant and had never married. He lived in an apartment near the hotel, where he was found dead. Princess Beatrice was told of her former partner’s death just weeks after her mother was diagnosed with skin cancer.
The romance with Princess Beatrice
The two started dating in July 2005, when she was 17 and he was 25. They met through a mutual friend and managed to keep their relationship out of the public eye for about a year. Paolo then traveled to the ski resort of Verbier with Beatrice and her family, revealing their relationship. Four years earlier Liuzzo had been sentenced to one hundred hours of community service for his involvement in a beating that resulted in the death of a student in Massachusetts.
Despite his past, Sarah Ferguson approved of her daughter’s choice, saying “we all have our own path and learn from our mistakes, but Beatrice is a smart girl, soon to be 18, with lots of friends including of Paolo”.
The publicity the trip to Switzerland received caused serious problems, prompting Liuzzo’s immediate return to the United States, as the terms of his suspension prohibited recreational travel outside the country. As a result, his three-year suspension was extended by six months, and Beatrice decided to end their relationship.
After the split, the man revealed that Beatrice’s family had kept their relationship a secret to protect her reputation. In 2007, he is said to have embarrassed the princess and the royal family by using marijuana in front of Beatrice, her sister and their mother on holiday together in Jamaica and then Beatrice was forced to end their relationship course.
Liuzzo, referring to his relationship with the princess, later said he wasn’t sure if he wanted a serious commitment, explaining that he liked her but “wasn’t in love”. “Sometimes, girlfriends would come to my flat in London to spend time together. We just told jokes and didn’t do anything more, but then I felt uncomfortable because of Beatrice,” Liuzzo had said, admitting that he has a weakness for women.

After her breakup with Liutzos, Beatrice found love in Dave Clark. To be near him, she enrolled in a finance program in San Francisco, where he was working for Uber. Despite rumors of a future wedding, the relationship never led to the church and they split by mutual consent after ten years in 2016.
She was later rumored to be dating gymnast James Williams and CNBC anchor Wilfred Frost, son of well-known journalist David Frost. However, none of these relationships were confirmed.
In 2018 it was announced that Beatrice had a relationship with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a successful real estate businessman and member of the Italian aristocracy. Edoardo, who already had a son from a previous relationship, won Beatrice’s heart and proposed to her.
However, due to the pandemic, they were forced to cancel their wedding planned for May 2020 in St. James’s Palace.
