The video made the rounds of the media ND MP, Yiannis Kallianos to cry, complaining the behavior of the doctors in the hospital towards his sick father.

The father of Mr. Kallianos suffered a seizure and was admitted to the ICU, despite the fact that “the doctors told me that we all sign that Mr. Kallianos is fine. My brother begged them to put him in MAF, but they wouldn’t. We begged them for five days and they wouldn’t let him in.”

“Because what happened to my father will happen to many people with doctors signing that he is finethey can’t imagine what they have to suffer from me and my brother in this Public Hospital he went to,” said Mr. Kallianos.

The answer of Adonis Georgiadis

Responding to Yiannis Kallianos via Twitter, Adonis Georgiadis reported how he perceives pain and clarified that “the process of entering a patient in the ICU is transparent, according to strict medical criteria” while “the decisions are made by doctors using scientific criteria”.

THE Minister of Health he stated that “I am not used to hiding” and that he and the Ministry do not interfere in the procedures of the ICUs.

“For reasons of medical confidentiality I would not be allowed to know the exact state of health of the patient, but I assure you that no one at the hospital was indifferent,” he noted of his father Yannis Kallianou.

Full post:

I let a few hours pass by the moving and humane post of the colleague and @kallianos before I posted. But I’m not used to hiding and I wouldn’t do it now either.

I absolutely respect the pain of every relative for his man and every son for his father.

After all, I have lost mine too and I understand the pain.

However, I have to clarify for the public to be properly informed, a few things:

A) The process of entering an ICU patient is transparent, according to strict medical criteria.

Therefore, the Ministry and I personally do not interfere -officially- in this purely medical procedure.

B) None of us are exempt from this process, as access to an ICU bed can in some cases decide someone’s life or death.

Against this we are all absolutely equal.

Decisions are made by doctors based on scientific criteria.

C) I have absolute confidence in our medical staff and in this case the legal procedure and legal criteria have been absolutely followed.

For reasons of medical confidentiality I would not be allowed to know the exact state of health of the patient, but I assure you that no one at the hospital was indifferent.

The ESY and its officers save thousands of people every day and do so with knowledge, conscience, empathy, sensitivity and professionalism.

I wish the father of my friend Yannis a happy birthday and I assure him that the National Health Service is doing everything humanly possible to make sure everything goes well for his father, but also for every fellow citizen who needs care.
