The unmanned Mojave…shoots targets, tomorrow maybe more drones!

The unmanned Mojave of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GAASI) performed a demonstration of fire, but in a completely different way than usual, that is, of carrying guided missiles and rockets. So in an exercise that took place on April 13, 2024, used Dillon Aero fuselages, with 7.62mm Minigun machine guns, one under each wing.

The Mojave made seven passes over two flights during the demonstration at the Yuma Test Range in Arizona, dropping about 10,000 rounds at various targets on the ground.

The relevant capability allows the Mojave, as well as other unmanned aerial vehicles of the same category (we mention the likes of General Atomics, Reaper and Gray Eagle), to undertake other missions, such as direct support, but also the destruction of slowly moving targets, which could be other unmanned and indeed with a low-cost war load. Maybe the time is not far when drones will give each other air battles!
