A spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Obaydah, today called for escalation on all fronts in a televised speech marking the 200th anniversary of the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip. on October 7.
The Hamas spokesman also called for escalation in the West Bank and Jordan, calling it “one of the most important Arab fronts.”
In a video broadcast by Al Jazeera television, Abu Ubaydah praised Iran’s attack on Israel on April 13, saying the direct strikes by drones and missiles “set new rules and caused confusion for the enemy and those who are behind him”.
Jordan, located between Iran and Israel, intercepted and shot down dozens of Iranian drones as they entered its airspace and headed for Israel, two regional security sources said on April 13.
“We call on the Jordanian people to step up their actions and raise their voices,” Abu Ubaydah added.
In the ongoing peace talks, Hamas is sticking to its demands, namely the end of Israel’s military offensive, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the return of displaced persons to the northern Gaza Strip and the lifting of the blockade of the enclave, continued representative. “The occupying government is delaying an agreement on the exchange of hostages and is trying to obstruct the efforts of mediators for a ceasefire agreement,” he argued.
Qatar and Egypt are trying to broker a ceasefire. Earlier, Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesman said all sides would have to “show seriousness” for these efforts to succeed.
