Sofia Arvanitis was a guest on the show, Studio 4, and she mentioned both her relationship with Michalis Rakintzis, her father and the loss of her brother.

“Rakintzis came into my life in a big way. It was good for me in another way too. Michalis likes to do many things with few people. This brings him together, gives him something of his own personality. He tells me that on the first record you wrote five verses, if you want to make the next record as well, write all the verses. He didn’t have time because he was also making his own records. You didn’t say anything about Michalis and I being a couple. That was floating around, we never said. It serves no purpose. After all, pop singers are very easily consumed. If you make the wrong moves and people don’t like you, they will bring out the next one.

We were very consistent in our obligations to communicate our work. We seemed single, we didn’t go out much together. We weren’t attracting the paparazzi, they hadn’t found out. There were obstacles when the person you collaborate with artistically is on the air and can play something in person, while normally there is another person. When you’re dealing with the pop scene that exudes youth, won’t your comments be heard? There is competition if two artists are in a relationship. Because in those years I was emotionally charged because I had this new thing that had arrived, I did it as a result well. I didn’t make blunders and blunders. On the other hand I had to solve the children’s issues and all these were in an interaction and conflict. If there was no children, it would be easier.”

“My father never came to see me in a nightclub. I lost him in 1989 when I had just released my first record. I remember he liked all this because he saw me on TVs, he watched me from home. He was sick so I lost him shortly after. I felt the satisfaction when he commented to me. He was talking about it but he didn’t get to see me. And many others he didn’t get to, but that’s how it happens.”

“My brother took a hit and I took it but more mildly but maybe for the same reason. He reacted and left! My brother saved over 70 people and 7 dogs in the Mati fire. It was his birthday, we were invited to his house to have a party. And he picks me up at seven in the afternoon and told us to stay home because there is a fire in the area and there is destruction. And he told me that he is going to help people because he is on fire. He lived in Nea Makri. He had his own fishing boat. I used to go until 1 in the evening to see what was going on and the people he saved would answer and tell me “don’t worry, he has gone to save others too”. My brother was already going through a Calvary, he knew he was sick and a year later he left. We were very proud of him!”
