What witnesses testified who were placed under protection for the murder of the police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis. The dialogues, the videos and the statements that are under the microscope of the authorities.
Dozens of recorded conversations, witness statements and videos are the basis of the heavy indictment, which those arrested face for the murderous attack against the MAT, in the area of Rentis. With this information, the police were able to clarify the role of each person involved and reach the leading group.
According to ANT1 information, in their statements some of those involved admitted to receiving Molotov cocktails and other items from the leadership group, which were transported in a motorcade.
A protected witness appears to describe: “After these items were distributed, we were instructed by ‘Konto’ and ‘OMLE’ to go to where the MATatjis were and attack them with these items… These two told us that they will be the “frontrunners” and we will follow them. According to “Konto’s” order, when he would drop the molotov he was holding, we would continue with the objects we had.
In the conversations, recorded by the Police bug, after the murderous attack in the area of Rentis, some of the accused are heard to be worried about the findings of the authorities.
A 24-year-old accused said: “Eeeee they burned me but they burned me very well, so I believe, that is, it’s done…. they don’t exist anymore for me but I give a I know a 30% what can I tell you. Even so, I didn’t come out, man, okay? In other words, no matter what they say to me, others took it from me, others took it from me, what should I do? Very quickly, the police arrested a 19-year-old man, who, upon investigation, confessed that he threw the naval flare, which hit Giorgos Lyggeridis. But then he stated that he does not know if the MAT officer was injured by his own action. Talking to his brother, however, from the detention center, he seemed certain of his pre-trial detention.
One of the dialogues between the accused testifies:
19 year old: The whole of Avlona must be waiting for me in here.
17 year old: (Laughs)
19 years old: Okay, they won’t take me either… and if they didn’t wait for me, they know what I’ve done, so they wouldn’t take me
17 year old: Yes, since the gypsy in Zephyri told me that just because you’ve done this… everyone will have a high regard for you.
Those accused of the criminal organization are expected to plead on Saturday and Sunday.
Protected witnesses are “key”.
The authorities consider the statements of the three fans, who were placed under witness protection, to be particularly important. Three people have joined the witness protection program and their statements are anonymous. All three have identified the persons who make up the leading group of the criminal organization.
Among other things, the first witness refers to three more incidents of fan violence, unrelated to the murderous attack on Giorgos Lyggeridis, while he describes how the leading members earned money.
As he mentioned, they overcharged the tickets and took the difference, sold tickets for the team and took the money, and finally sold protection in the canteens outside the stadium.
