In Delesi today Archbishop and Prime Minister – The structures of the Archdiocese they will visit

Today at 11 a.m. the joint visit of the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece will take place, Mr. Ieronymos and the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in structures of the Holy Archdiocese in Delesi.

According to the program, they will initially go to “Evangelismos tis Theotokou” Kindergarten – Kindergarten, soon after they will visit him “Zoodochos Pigi” Kindergarten and will finish their visit at Gerontology Center of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens (Delesi Boeotia).

The Gerontology & Welfare Support Center “AGIOS PORPHYRIOS” was founded on April 17, 2013 by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Mr. Hieronymus II and inaugurated on May 23, 2019 by His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr. Bartholomew and the Most Blessed Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Mr. Hieronymos II. The Gerontology & Welfare Support Center “AGIOS PORPHYRIOS” supports the work of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens in the field of social welfare for the elderly.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides in the post-season “austerity” which arose after the passage of the bill for the marriage of same-sex couples. The phrase that Mr. Mitsotakis had mentioned from the floor of the Parliament is indicative “or papas papas or zeugas zeugas”, during the debate on the bill last February. The meeting takes place at a critical time in the country’s political scene, with the Church taking a clear distance from the phenomena of extreme rhetoric and acts of violence that have recently occurred in the country’s temples.

Mr. Mitsotakis referred to these phenomena yesterday during his interview on the SKAI television station, who accused the President of the Hellenic Solution, Kyriakos Velopoulos, of the commercialization of the Christian faith, characterizing as unacceptable and divisive the exhortations that all those who voted for it should not visit the churches legalization of same-sex marriage. “They cannot say that they represent the faith, they also received answers from the Church,” he said.
