A discussion with Sophia the Robot, the most famous Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot in the world, will be held by the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas.

With him and the Researcher and Director of Computing Systems of the MIT Media Lab USA – Commander of the National Cybersecurity Authority Dr. Michalis Bletsas.

The event will take place within the framework of the participation of the Region of Central Macedonia in the international exhibition of digital technology and innovation “Beyond 2024”.

The discussion will take place at 11.30 in the morning, at the stand of the Region of Central Macedonia, at stand 15, at the International Exhibition and Conference Center of Thessaloniki.

Conference on Innovation and New Technologies in Local Government

In the framework of “Beyond”, the Region of Central Macedonia, through the Directorate of Transparency and Electronic Government, is organizing the 3rd Conference on Innovation and New Technologies in Local Government, on April 26 and 27, at the Conference Center “I. Vellidis”.

Representatives of Ministries, Regions, Public bodies and Private Sector companies have been invited to the conference, who will present applications, good practices and innovative solutions, which make the daily life of the citizen easier and the work of the Local Government officials more efficient.

Open innovation competition

At the same time, the Region of Central Macedonia, through the One Stop Liaison Office, its mechanism for supporting Innovation and Entrepreneurship, is launching on April 25, at the “I. Vellidis” the Open Innovation Competition Innovation for Society Awards (IFS) 2024. The action is organized in collaboration with the Exporters Association (SEBE), the Association of Greek Industries (SEBE), ThessINTEC, the Architectural Aluminum Academy (AAA), the Technology Forum and the Greek-German Chamber.

The main objective of this initiative is to highlight the potential of the regional innovation ecosystem, but also to strengthen and promote collaborations between businesses and researchers to find business solutions with a social impact.

As part of the competition, ten leading companies from various sectors of the economy invite researchers, start-ups and private individuals to develop innovative solutions – with social and environmental impact – to the business challenges that will be posed.

The start of the competition will take place on April 25, within the framework of this year’s Technology Forum. Those interested must submit their proposals by May 28, while the teams that reach the final, which is scheduled for October 2024, will compete for business innovation awards with a total value of 40,000 euros.
