With Easter falling this year on May 5 and Holy Week starting on Holy Monday, April 29, the last day of classes is today (26/04), and they are expected to return to classrooms on Monday, May 13.
Regarding the summer holidays, Primary schools and Kindergartens close on June 15th for the holidays. If June 15 is a holiday or falls on a Saturday or Sunday, then classes end on the previous working day. For example, this year June 15 falls on a Saturday, when summer schools are expected to close on Friday, June 14, 2024.
What applies to Middle and High Schools
The above only applies to elementary schools and kindergartens, as for high schools and high schools, the Ministry of Education determines when they close each year because there are also exams and the Panhellenic 2024. As far as high schools are concerned, on Friday May 17, classes are completed, while for High Schools the last day of classes is Wednesday, May 29.
Internal school exams for the first and second year of high school should be completed by June 14, since June 15 is a Saturday. The final exams of the third high school must be completed by May 30.
It is noted that this year is an election year, due to the European elections. In Greece, they are scheduled for Sunday, June 9, and schools will be closed from Friday, June 7 to Monday, June 10.
