The Mary N. Raptou Schools in collaboration with the Deputy Mayor of Culture of the Municipality of Larissa will hold a concert today, April 25, 2024 at 19:30 in the hall of the Municipal Conservatory of Larissa.

The Serbian choir “Kir Stefan Srbin” will also participate in the concert.

The choir “Kir Stefan Serbin” (Ang. Kir Stefan the Serb) was founded on October 5, 1993 in Smederevo, located 45 km northwest of Belgrade. The choir is named after Kir Stefan the Serb, born around 1460. Originally from Greece, he left the earliest records of Serbian music at the court, including “Ninjasili”, a hymn for the Divine Liturgy of the Consecrated Saints Gifts. The choir consists of girls aged 10-20, mostly high school students in the territory of Smederevo.

Biography of the conductor and director of the choir

Milan Ilić graduated from the Stanković Music School in Belgrade and then continued his studies at the Music School in Novi Sad. In the year he graduated (1991) he was awarded in the youth choir competition for the best conductor. In 1997 he was awarded as the best conductor in Italy. He is the founder of the choir and its permanent director. He conducts many more choirs in Serbia and abroad and organizes seminars for conductors.

The artistic direction and curator of the event is conductor Nikos St. Efthymiadis and the piano accompaniment by the Music teacher of the Schools, Ioanna Arevythi.
