It has been in progress since 8:30 am. in the morning in places determined by the relevant Electors, the submission of nominations for them Presidents of District Organizations, Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Municipal Councilors as well as for the members of School Boards.

The process is expected to end at 12.30 pm.

The general nomination election Authorities of Local Self-Government are held every five years and concern the election of Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Municipal Councilors and Members of School Boards in the mayoral regions, as well as the election of Presidents of Provincial Self-Government Organizations at the Province level.

The submission of nominations for the office of the President of the Nicosia Provincial Organization of Self-Government will be done at the Nicosia Provincial Administration. Candidates are Andreas Assiotis and Konstantinos Giorkatzis.

The process in detail

THE Arrival time which has been determined for the parties, is at 8.30 for AKEL, 9.00 Democratic Party-Cooperation of Democratic Forces, 9.30 DISY, 10.00 EDEK Socialist Party, 10.30 Far-Left Resistance Communism, 11.00 DIKO, 11.30 Environmentalists-Citizens’ Cooperation, 1 1.50 Movement Act , 12.00 National People’s Front (ELAM).

The submission of nominations for Mayor of Nicosia, Deputy Mayor of Nicosia Municipal District and Municipal Councilors of Nicosia District will take place in the Building (formerly EKATE) near Nicosia City Hall.

The submission of nominations for the Mayor of Strovolos, Deputy Mayor and Municipal Councilors of the Municipality of Strovolos will take place at the Strovolos City Hall.

The submission of nominations for Mayor of South Nicosia-Idali, Deputy Mayor of Idali Municipal District as well as Municipal Councilors will take place at the Municipal Cultural Center of Idali.

The submission of nominations for the Mayor of Latsia-Geri, Deputy Mayor of the Municipal District of Latsia and Municipal Councilors will take place at the Latsia Town Hall.

The submission of nominations for Mayor of Lakatamia, Deputy Mayor and Municipal Councilors will take place at Lakatamia Town Hall.

Nominations will be submitted to the District Administration of Limassol at 8.30 a.m. for the office of the President of the District Self-Government Organization, at 8.40 a.m. for the Mayors and Deputy Mayors of all Limassol Municipal Apartments.

At 8.55 the nominations of the Mayors and Deputy Mayors of all the Municipal Apartments of Polemidia will be submitted, at 9.10 the Mayors and Deputy Mayors of all the Municipal Apartments of West Limassol, at 9.30 the Mayors and Deputy Mayors of all the Municipal Apartments of East Limassol.

In Larnaca nominations will be submitted to the District Administration. At 8.30 DISY will submit the nominations for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Councilors, School Board members, at 9.00 AKEL, at 9.30 ELAM, at 10.00 DIKO, at 10.30 EDEK, at 10.50 DIPA, at 11.10 Environmental Movement, at 11.30 Active Citizens-Movement of United Cypriot Hunters, at 11.50 the Party for Animals, at 12.05 the Patriotic Front, at 12.15 Independents.

In Paphos, in the District Administration, AKEL submits nominations at 8:30 a.m., at 8:45 a.m. Mayor candidate Nikos Palios, at 9:00 a.m. Marinos Lambrou, at 9:15 a.m. Kostas Konstantinou for the office of President of the District Self-Government Organization, at 10:00 a.m. Pambos Pittokopitis for the office of the President of the Provincial Self-Government Organization, at 10.15 Evros Loizidis for the office of Mayor, at 10.30 Kyriakos Hatzivasilis for the Municipality of East Pafos, at 11.00 Phaidonas Phaidonos, at 11.15 Marios Tsielepos for the office of President of the Provincial Self-Government Organization.

According to the planning, in Famagusta Provincial Administration Yannos Karousos will submit his candidacy for EOA at 8.30, Andros Ktoridis at 8.50 and Theodoros Pyrillis at 9.00.

At 9.20 Neophytos Michael (Agia Napa) will submit his candidacy for Mayor, at 9.30 Aimili Xydia (Agia Napa), at 9.40 Kyriakos Tsiakkurmas (Agia Napa), at 9.50 Martis Marti (Agia Napa), at 10.00 Michalis Zouvanis (Paralimni), at 10.10 Loukas Polykarpou (Paralimni), at 10.20 Kostas Phytiris (Paralimni), at 10.30 Panagiotis Kyzas (Paralimni), at 10.40 Simos Ioannou (Ammochostos), at 10.50 Klairi Hatzikakou (Ammochostos), at 11.00 Vassilis Mavros (Ammochostos), on 11.05 Zina Lyssandrou (Lefkoniko), at 11.10 Pieris Gypsiotis (Lefkoniko), at 11.20 Andreas Vrahimis (Ammochostos), at 11.30 Eleni Iosif (Akantou), at 11.40 Giorgos Nikolettos (Paralimni), at 11.50 Christos Zannettos (Agia Napa), at 12. 00 Linen Papagiannis (Ammochostos), at 12.10 Eleni Mylona Hatzimichael (Akanthou), at 12.15 Andreas Kaouris (Lysi), at 12.20 Kyriakos Larkos (Lysi).

Within 24 hours after the end of the procedure, one has the right to submit an objection for the reasons specified in the legislation.

Every citizen of the Republic or a citizen of another member state of the European Union, who reaches the age of 18 up to and including the date of the elections, has the right to vote, provided that he is registered in the respective electoral roll.

According to data from the Elections Service, the total number of voters who have the right to vote in the upcoming elections amounts to 706,534.

The permanent electoral roll, which provides the right to participate in all electoral contests, includes 568,608 Cypriot voters, of which 837 are Turkish Cypriots, holders of an identity card of the Republic of Cyprus, with an address in the free areas.

The breakdown of voters by province reports 220,736 voters in Nicosia province, including 143 Turkish Cypriots, 33,879 in Famagusta, including 8 T/k, 99,342 in Larnaca, including 249 T/k, 159,680 in Limassol, including 238 T/k, and 54,971 in Paphos, including 199 T/k.

21,640 voters are included in the special electoral list of European citizens for the elections of Local Government Authorities, with the analysis of said voters by province indicating 4,048 community voters in Nicosia, 2,669 in Famagusta, 2,525 in Larnaca, 3,123 in Limassol and 9,275 in Paphos.

In municipal and community elections, displaced voters vote for the authorities of their place of residence, but also of their place of displacement.
