The battle of the suppliers on the yellow invoices

At the same levels as in April, or even slightly lower, retail electricity prices for May are expected to be announced by suppliers next Wednesday. The decrease in the average wholesale price of electricity in April and the prospect of even lower prices for May, both due to the increased participation of RES in the energy mix, and due to low demand, create conditions of strong competition between the supply companies which have now focus their attention on yellow tariffs.
It is characteristic that the average wholesale price as set out in the Next Day Market of the Energy Exchange until April 25 was at 60.79 euros/MWh, clearly lower than in March when it was at 67.5 euros/MWh. At the same time, the price of gas at the Dutch TTF node is around 30 euros/MWh and the price of forward contracts is at the same level, at least until September.
