With honor and respect, the Memorial Procession for the Massacre of Patras took place again this year (photo)

With honor and respect to the memory of the thousands who were massacred, the Memorial Procession for the Patras Massacre took place again this year on Saturday, April 20, 2024 for the third consecutive year.

The Procession started from Filikon Square in Tabachana and through Old Patras Germanou Street ended at Agios Georgios Square.

In the square of Agios Georgios, the president of our Association, Mr. Tsokanas Spyridon, addressed a short greeting and thanks. The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Patras, Mr. Chrysostomos performed a Memorial Service and in his short speech he referred to the Massacre of Patras.

This was followed by the laying of wreaths by the representatives of the Association of Patras and by the representatives of the revivalist Associations from Aigio, Aitoliko and Nafpaktos.

The Municipal Philharmonic of the Municipality of Aegira “Ioannis Kokonetsis” under the guidance of conductor Mr. Dimitrios Michalos decorated the Procession with their paeans.

The Procession was attended by:
The Group for the Preservation & Revival of the History of Aetolian “The Taxiarches”.
The Historical Revival Association “Vostitsa 1821”. The Association of Descendants of Souliots “Epachtos”
The Revival Group of Aegialia.
The Traditional Weapons Shooting Group of Patras.
The “Panagiotis Karatzas” Historical Revival Monument.
The Panepirot Association of Patras.
The Pangalavrytine Association of Patras.
The Souli Cultural Association of Patras.
The Pontian Lighthouse of Patras.
The Arcades Association of Patras.
The Dance Department of “Renaissance” Schools.

We especially thank the Deputy Mayor of Aegialia, Mr. Christopoulos Vasilios, who, despite the difficulties, did everything possible to move the Philharmonic from Aegira to Patras.

We sincerely thank the people of Patras who started and embraced this event and watched the Procession.
