“Schools in action” with specially adapted excerpts from Aristophanes’ comedies

In the 2nd Children’s Festival, entitled “Schools in Action”, four theater groups from a corresponding number of Primary Schools participated yesterday at the Church of Ancient Messina. This educational activity of the Municipality of Messina, which was an initiative of the philologist and member of the Festival Evaluation Committee, Nikos Fousianis, is part of the 11th International Youth Festival of Ancient Drama.

Only Primary Schools of the Prefecture of Messinia take part in the Children’s Festival, with specially adapted excerpts from Aristophanes’ comedies, lasting 15 to 20 minutes, for primary school students.

As for the schools that participated this year, they were the 1st and 2nd Primary Schools of Messina with extracts from “Irini”, the 3rd Primary School of Messina with an extract from “Plutos” and the 10th Experimental Primary School of Kalamata, with an extract from “Lysistrata” .

Students and teachers from the 1st Primary School of Messina, the 2nd Primary School of Messina, the 10th Primary School of Kalamata, the 8th Primary School of Kalamata (4th and 5th grades), the 2nd Gymnasium of Palaio Faliro and the 13th Primary School of Kalamata, as well as many parents attended the school performances.

After their end, Panagiotis Bessis, deputy mayor of Culture, addressed a short greeting and handed over commemorative diplomas to all the participants.

Today, the last day of the 11th International Youth Festival of Ancient Drama, the performance “Nefeles” by Aristophanes will be presented by the 2nd Gymnasium of Palaio Faliro.
