Strong incentives for decentralization
The need for there to be “strong incentives and highlighting of the comparative advantages of the islands, in order to set the critical goal of decentralization in realistic terms”, underlined the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis from Nisyros, who was present today, in the context of the multi-day of his tour of the Aegean islands.
According to the update of Koumoundourou, “the inhabitants of the island welcomed him by describing in detail the serious problems they face, mainly in terms of transportation and the connection with the nearby islands. The tragic situation and the extreme understaffing of the hospital in neighboring Kos forces the residents of Nisyros to travel all the way to Athens, with the total, unbearable, cost (transportation, accommodation, food) exceeding 1,000 euros, as the residents explained to Stefanos Kasselakis ».
