The Municipality of the Holy City of Messolonghi welcomes the Olympic Flame and honors it
twinned Municipality of Morphou from Cyprus on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
In detail, the schedule of Thursday’s events is as follows:
11:00: Anniversary General Priestly Meeting of the Clergy of the Holy Metropolis
Aetolia and Akarnania to the Holy Church of Agia Paraskevi Messolonghi and pilgrimage
in the Garden of Heroes.
After the end of the General Priestly Assembly, a Procession will follow in the Garden of Heroes
accompanied by the Philharmonic of the Holy City of Messolonghi “Christos Kapsalis” and
memorial prayer.
14:00: Reception Ceremony of the Olympic Flame – Garden of Heroes
Greeting from the Mayor of the Holy City of Messolonghi Mr. Spyridon V. Diamantopoulos.
Greetings from the representative of the Hellenic Torch Relay Committee.
Greeting from the representative of the “PARIS 2024” Commission.
Reflection of Olympic Anthem, National Anthem of Greece, National Anthem of France by
Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of the Holy City of Messolonghi “Christos Kapsalis” under the direction
of the Chief Musician, Mr. Dimitris Tsiandas.
Presentation of a commemorative papyrus of the Olympic anthem to the Representatives of
Olympic Committees of Greece and France.
Dance performance by the dance department of Messolonghi Artistic High School.

anniversary of the liberation of Cyprus (April 1st) and the anniversary of the heroic Exodus of
Free Besiegers.
In the context of the actions of the “Committee for the cultivation and promotion of relations
of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with Cyprus”, participates in
Exodus Feasts, represented at the highest possible level.
