The Farmer’s Card is activated from today – What it provides to the beneficiaries

Its activation starts today, Wednesday, April 24, 2024 Farmer’s Card aimed at addressing the acute problems faced by producers.

The “Farmer’s Card” will be made available to producers (farmers and breeders), beneficiaries of agricultural subsidies, if they so wish, only with the interested party’s application to the cooperating bank that maintains his account.

Through this card, the beneficiaries are given the opportunity to make purchases from companies that are included in the categories of those that sell products related to meeting the agricultural needs of producers (consumable agricultural supplies, such as seeds, medicines, fertilizers, animal feed, veterinary drugs, feed additives, fuel for driving tractors, agricultural electricity, spare parts – agricultural machinery workshop), but also to pay off his debts to certified entities submitting a Single Aid Declaration.

Through the “Farmer’s Card”, producers are also given the opportunity to pay off their current debts towards ELGA, OGA and the State, costs of issuing and using a work stamp, as well as the cost of applying for agricultural aid.

The Minister of Rural Development and Food states the following in his statements:

“With coordinated actions, we are activating this year, faster than last year, the “Farmer’s Card”, in order for each producer to face the acute problems that have been created due to the successive crises.

The energy and climate crisis and geostrategic instability are bringing increased production costs to the agricultural world.

We take advantage of every possibility that exists to be constantly on the side of the Greek farmer but also to facilitate the production process in the primary sector”.

What is the “Farmer’s Card”

The “Farmer’s Card” provides the possibility of drawing an advance on the subsidies that each farmer will eventually receive. It is a specially designed card for farmers in order to directly finance their production costs, during the period of the production process.

These costs are related to the cultivation and other related needs with the production process such as fertilizers, animal feed, medicines, fuel, obligations to: ELGA, OGA, purchase of works stamps, the payment of agricultural electricity, irrigation fees, etc.

The “Farmer’s Card” is provided under the terms and conditions agreed with the Ministry of Rural Development and Food.
