An incredible family tragedy took place in the US when a former police officer murdered his ex-wife and his underage girlfriend before making off with the teenager’s one-year-old baby, then inflicting a self-inflicted head injury.
Specifically, officers found the injured body of Elias Huizar after a police chase near Eugene around 3 a.m. (local time) Tuesday, according to the West Richland Police Department. He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition. The infant child he kidnapped was taken into custody by the authorities.

Former police officer Elias Huizar is on the run after allegedly shooting his ex-wife Amber Rodriguez eight times outside the elementary school where she worked. The former couple’s 9-year-old son told officers he “saw his father, Elias Huizar, shoot his mother.”
While searching for the maniacal killer, they found the body of his teenage girlfriend – identified by relatives as Angelica Santos – at his home just minutes from the school.
Her devastated family realized Angelica, 17, and the 1-year-old child she had with Huizar, Roman Santos, were missing and assumed the former police officer had kidnapped the infant. According to court records earlier this year, Huizar met the girl while working as a clerk at Washington High School in Yakima.
He asked for police protection
She was 11 when they met and 15 when he got her pregnant, Rodriguez wrote in her petition for a protective order against Huizar. The shooter left the Yakima Police Department in 2021 “after receiving a recommendation for discipline,” the department said Tuesday without providing additional information.
He then went on to work as a substitute teacher in the Richland School District until February of this year, when he was arrested for allegedly raping his underage girlfriend’s unconscious 16-year-old girlfriend after a night of drinking at their home.

Huizar was scheduled to appear in court to face charges of raping minors and his relationship with Angelica on the day of the murders. The brutal killing also came just days after Rodriguez filed to change the custody arrangements of the two children, ages 5 and 9, claiming she feared for their safety.
She had previously expressed concerns about her ex-husband, who she said was armed and harassed her after their divorce in 2020. According to the protection order, which was issued in February, Huizar could not possess firearms. Authorities initially believed Huizar was fleeing with the baby to Mexico. They warned he was armed and “likely to commit more crimes”.
