The Easter table is expected to be more expensive than in previous years, as prices, both in meats and in fruits and vegetables, have now skyrocketed. The battle for the price of ovelia has already begun and butchers say they are trying to keep it at last year’s levels.

Regarding the price of the lamb, the press representative of the Butchers’ Association of Attica, said “We hope it will not exceed 14 euros, but we are surprised by the low prices below cost in some points of sale”.

It is noted that the lambs and goats are sold by the breeder for 8 euros per kilo and with the additional one euro which is the price of the slaughterhouse, the butchers buy from the traders for 10 euros per kilo, to sell it to consumers for 14 euros at least.

Increases in fruit and vegetable prices

The price increases in food, and in particular in fruits, are what put “fire” in consumers’ pockets in the first two months of spring, as in some cases they reach up to 10%.
