George Lakopoulos writes

Here I want you crab… Find out who the following thoughts belong to: “You can fool a few for a long time, many for a while, but not everyone for all the time” and “I can fool them all forever and always be voted for.”

Not to torture it: the first to Abraham Lincoln, if you’ve heard of him and it’s a bit older – 1958 – the second to Kyriakos Mitsotakis and he’s saying it all the time – most recently it was in the Central Market of Rentis.

His visit to a place that is not very familiar to him was just a repetition of the method: “Go to a supermarket – with cameras and Skrekas next to you – tell them that the prices are falling and no one will ask you for the reason because the opposite happens”.

This time it was found at the source that supplies them food shop. And in a tone that didn’t raise any objections he said: “I find that in a number of products, vegetables and fruits, we have lower prices than last year.”

How exactly did he “find out”? Does he remember what the prices were last year? He did not name which fruits and vegetables are cheaper than last year, probably becauseIt does not distinguish apples from tomatoes and broccoli from lettuce.

They followed something unintelligible – like: “the better the supply chain works, the more our suppliers invest in logistics infrastructure” – and continued with his success in lying during this period:

-“For the first time, we have encouraging signs that persistent food inflation seems to be beginning to abate.”

Curiously, he did not again give the example of the “price reduction in baby milk” which is his motto, perhaps because he was told that it does not belong to the kinds that this particular market deals in.

But he had something better: “Let’s all spend his holidays.” Easter with a smile and enjoying the best possible prices for the typical Easter products”.

We didn’t even suspect that his family was waiting for the prices to drop so they could spend the Easter “holiday” (!) “with a smile”. What’s more, Mareva may have sent him to the market to know where he should buy the “standard” ones.

In the real world, on the same day he was talking about “declining” prices, the National Statistical Service and the Eurostat announced that inflation rose further in March. And in the evening, even on the most pro-government channels there were reports with titles such as “prices are galloping”, “the Easter table is very expensive” and similar.

Finally, with his presence in the Vegetable Market, the Prime Minister proved – again – that the blessed Lincoln, it is good that he abolished slavery, but as a politician he was a scrap: You can deceive everyone all the time and in front of their eyes and it is a pleasure to be they vote.
