Answer to a topical parliamentary question by KKE MP Seminas Digeni on the issues of employees at ERT, he gave Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Pavlos Marinakis.
He referred to the fairly significant to large successes in some individual sectors that ERT has achieved in the last difficult years of the multiple
imported crises.
He pointed out that: “The successes are not the successes of the Government alone, in the sense that they were not only the result of governmental decisions but of the ERT Management, the patience and hard work of the employees, which are reflected in many different levels”, while he mentioned :
“We have a public television, which from the era of complete discredit and partisanship – an ERT that, allow me to put it, resembled a Soviet-style channel broadcasting government propaganda – has been transformed into a public television that promotes credibility, information and culture, respects workers and is taking steps that have not been taken for decades».
The Government Spokesperson, according to the ND announcement, also emphasized that more is always needed for the workers and stated that this is what the Government is trying to do in a period of many imported crises, stressing: “The difference between the Government and the Opposition is that what he says, he puts into practice what he says, he costs them and implements them, because they can be implemented very simply. It is certain that as long as this course of the country continues – and we have every reason to believe that it will continue – in a climate of stability we will only have such news.
New Democracy came to power and, for example, managed to sign during its days collective labor agreements in ERT that had been signed since 2007. It managed to give raises to civil servants and ERT employees, which had been given for fourteen years . Why didn’t these happen all these years? Certainly one reason, one cause is the crisis. Another reason is that many times we put forward as a political system – and I am not referring to the party and the government I represent – our ideologies from practice.
We have decided to put actions before everything else for the benefit of employees, wherever they work.”
