The arrest of one of the 60 hooligans arrested by EL.AS was episodic. for the murderous attack on Rentis, which led to the fatal wounding of 31-year-old police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis.
According to the report of ANT1, around 05:00 in the morning, the Security police officers went to Nice to handcuff a 22-year-old man, who was also brought in last December, right after the incidents.
As soon as the policemen arrived at the door of his house, the young man opened it and with the glock he was holding, attacked and hit a policeman. The young man then closed the door and locked it. But the police blocked any possible exit and entered his house and arrested him. After a search that lasted several minutes, they also found the glove, which the young man had managed to hide.
Justifying his attack on the police, the young man who had equipped his house with cameras thought – as he mentioned – that the men he saw outside his house were robbers and that’s why he attacked. The police officer who was hit by the gloop was injured and transported to the 401 Military Hospital.
