Ioannis-Alexios, the honorary ambassador, described him as a breath of life for Ukraine Zeposin an interview at First Program 91.6 and 105.8 and on the show “Yes but But” with Evangelia Baltatzis, the tens of billions in military and humanitarian aid approved by the US House of Representatives to the country defending itself against the Russian attack, while part of the aid will also reach Israel.

“Undoubtedly, Europe has so far done everything it can to help, but we should always think that Russia is a European country, it is a nuclear power. And of course, all this is done with caution, because the worst should be avoided. Therefore, yes, Europe and the United States will help Ukraine, but I personally believe that at the same time movements and manipulations should be made such that sooner or later there can be a truce on this front” noted Mr. Zepos.

The safety net we were used to after World War II no longer exists, he pointed out, so a new one must be created, which is too early to determine exactly how it will work.

“This is especially the case after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the world system that was protected through the UN has ceased to be able to function as before. Do not forget that Russia is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and therefore had a stabilizing role through this position. This stabilizing role of the Security Council is suffering today. So we have a gap in terms of keeping the world peace, and one of the members of the Security Council is currently an invader in Ukraine. So this makes the picture very difficult. Of course, the news that exists is not pleasant, because the Ukrainians are also fighting a difficult war and Russia over time appears stronger, more organized militarily” said Mr. Zepos.

“As far as the Middle East is concerned, Israel seems to have nukes, it’s not something they’ve ever announced. On the other hand, I think that we are not yet in a position to say that Iran is a nuclear power. It certainly worries the West, but it has not yet been proven that it has nuclear weapons,” noted Mr. Zepos regarding the possibility of this tension developing into an uncontrollable situation with the use of a nuclear arsenal.

In addition, a full-scale conflict between Iran and Israel, according to what Mr. Zepos said, does not appear to be a likely development for now, but that does not rule out that there could be targeted strikes from one side or the other either now or later. This cannot be ruled out, but I don’t think there can be a wider conflict. Do not forget that Iran and Israel do not share a border, so other countries also intervene in terms of territory. I think it’s not something that should worry us this time,” emphasized Mr. Zepos.

“After all, Israel has much more serious problems to solve in its immediate area and it is also an issue that concerns us because we also belong to this wider area and it concerns us as Greece” he added. Referring to the Palestinian problem, pointing out that it is a very old and difficult issue, as well as the fact that there is no communication between the Palestinians and Israel, but they communicate through third Arab countries, which in turn try to find some solutions, he emphasized that in any case, these are matters of mutual interest.

As far as the change of correlations in the geopolitical chessboard is concerned, according to Mr. Zepos, it is too early to have a picture of what the next system will be. “It is important, I understand, that the great powers of the planet, whether it is China, that is, beyond the United States and Russia, whether it is China or India are trying to play a positive role in the sense that they are really moving in the direction of not strengthening the situations , but of avoiding further difficulties and wrong steps. I have the impression that sooner or later we will be able to move towards some form that will bring a balance again. How exactly this scheme will work is too early to see, but I think we are moving there, a newer scheme, perhaps broader in my opinion, that will be able to play the role of the previous one in terms of security,” he said. concluding.
