With a motto “Otherwise. In front. Together. Because we can win” the “Democratic Union of Actors” calls for her participation and support in his elections Greek Actors Association from April 26 to 29.

The faction will present its ballot today, Monday, at 5.30 p.m. at the “Olvio” theater (Falasias 7, Votanikos).

The dates of the elections are as follows:

Athens April 26-29 from 10 a.m. until 7 pm at the offices of the Association.

It was also decided to hold elections in Thessaloniki, Chania, Heraklion, Patras, Larissa and Trikala.

Days, times and location will be announced at a later date.

The declaration of the “Democratic Unity of Actors”

In its declaration about the elections, the “Democratic Union of Actors” states, among other things:

“There are many of us who:

We do not accept to work at ever harder and more intensive rates, with ever lower wages, to live permanently with the stress of unemployment.

We feel the anger bubbling up about punctuality, poverty, broken labor relations, that… “now those who work are hungry” at the same time that big business is making ever bigger profits.

We are concerned seeing the war in Ukraine and the Middle East, thousands of children being killed, cities, schools, theaters being demolished with the participation of Greece, which also sent a frigate to the Red Sea.

We no longer tolerate dozens of women being murdered helpless even in front of a police station, without the minimum protection structures in place, while the government advertises the panic button as a solution.

We do not agree with the governments (current and past) that art and culture are window dressing, decor for businesses that will bring money to the big businessmen of entertainment, oa, but also tourism and other industries, at a time when our own pockets are constantly being emptied, as actors’ houses are auctioned.

We are indignant when they tell us that they need our art to do “cultural diplomacy” with the murderers of peoples, while art can become a voice of solidarity between peoples!

But ethere are many of us who:

THEwe laugh the days we will be able to do freely the Art we lovewell, the days when Art will have an unprecedented spread and artists such support and recognition that they have never known until now.

We don’t compromise with the rot of a society that puts the profits of big business at the center and forces us to fight ceaselessly for our lives.

We met in previous years at the games, we took to the streets, we demonstrated, we struck, we fought!

We, the many, who worry and fight, want to have SEH in front of us and beside us to lead the battles and the conflict on a victorious course.

That’s why now…let’s go OTHERWISE.

Rejecting an Administration that invokes the “data” of anti-popular politics in order to come to terms with it. Leaving behind the AENAI and APO KOINOU factions that ruled together and wanted to put SEH as a “voluntary prisoner” in the prison of EU politicians, governments, inviting us to follow them, accusing the industry of not caring, of not participating, of not he wants to improve his life.

Leaving behind an Administration that does not want and cannot see that without conflict nothing is gained, that all the earlier conquests of SEH, but also the recent ones of the trade union movement were detached in opposition to the dominant policy and not “with begging” in the yard her. That the industry gets stronger when it is informed, participates, co-shapes decisions in the general assemblies, on the sets, in the theaters and not in the “entertainment” shows.

That’s why now is the time to say a huge no to those who want us to take even more steps back by turning the SEH into:

  • An ally of the employers since the Management went so far as to agree to a contract that favors the employers: Reduction of wages for the productions of the big employers, unacceptable separation of the children’s theater in terms of wages and working conditions, exclusivity of the actor to the employer at the moment with precision and low daily wages we are forced into 2 or more simultaneous productions for our survival and fragmentation of the single contract. At the same time, the administration says that even this contract will not apply to those employers who have signed until most have signed, playing our lives in the games of employer competition.

  • A vehicle for selling out our games after the president of the Association voted in favor of the law on professional education which, among other things, upgrades the PD by giving it the force of law. After all, since July 2023, his party, with a Question in Parliament, has been asking for the recognition of drama schools within level 5, i.e. IEK.

  • Plasier of the government measures, such as the parliamentarian of Plefsis Eleftherias and until now the president of SEH who supported and advertised the failed Georgiadis law which instituted the 13-hour work, even saying in the Parliament that “the needs of the competitiveness of the economy are above the working hours work”.

Against all of them we Going forward. To change this situation. To represent the great competitive prestige of the actors conquered during the pandemic and the struggles against the Presidential Decree.

For a SEH that will unite us in the fight for what we need, us and our art! Collectively and competitively, to repel the total assault on our rights. Proposing requests that essentially improve our working environment that support the development of theatrical art in Attica and the Region.

For one SEH of solidarity that will stand against injustice towards his colleagues, he will prevent layoffs, he will prevent auctions, he will claim for the right to Education and Health. For a SEH where the older and established colleagues will become a shield of protection for the younger ones and those who are just starting out. For a SEH that will claim for the small groups and will not consider them a “problem”, as said in a meeting of the Board of Directors and as supported by the EU which considers small businesses as a “structural problem of the Greek economy”.

For one SEH which will Mrrgives the support of all workers, of all branches. Which will return to society with solidarity, struggles and art the love we receive from the public. Which will be positioned for our own problems, but for the general social ones, always taking the side of the wronged and the people. Which will condemn, for example, without yes, but the murderous state of Israel. Who will stand without second thoughts with the Palestinian people until freedom!

For a democratic SEH that will respect the opinions of all colleagues, which we will decide collectively through mass procedures, in the Board of Directors and general assemblies. Where will work appendices in the other cities of Greece to support the claims of colleagues there, but also the needs for the development of theatrical art throughout the Region.

For a SEH that will transfer the his unyielding fighting attitude in POTHA, in the Labor Centers, so that the direction of conflict with the politics that degrades our lives strengthens there as well.

For an SHE answer to our questions.

Support for our concerns.

Espringboard for our matches.

Phifield of hope and organization.

Let’s go together

The forces that elected and supported the “Democratic Union of Actors” were and are daily in battle.

We have met inside and outside the theatres, in the serials, we have discussed, informed and organized the struggle for every small or big issue.

We’ve been at the forefront of crime fighting in Tempe, we’ve been at the forefront of fighting to keep our educations and degrees from being downgraded, and every fight our industry has had.

We insisted that the Board of Directors meet, that General Assemblies be held even when the majority of the Management undermined them as they did in the general assembly before the strike on 28/2 where even its elected members did not show up.

We do not regret the effort, we are not afraid of the conflict with the big businessmen in our area. We face them because we gain strength in the collective struggle.

We know the power of our art, the power of diversity in the struggle. We know how to claim and fight.

We also know mwe can win!

Enough of our struggles:

To put the right opponent in the eye. The big businessmen in our area, the governments and all the organizations from which the anti-popular policy emanates (EU, NATO). They should not short-sightedly and disorientatingly target only the minister or prime minister at a time, as the ASI and “Assembly” factions do, in order to change the faces and keep the same policy.

To have endurance, duration, maneuverability, versatilityso that from every battle we come out stronger and not immersed in disappointment!

To meet with the races of other disciplineswith all the workers, with the students, the students, the youth.

We can win. As the workers in “e-food”, in the Port, in the builders, in Metallo are winning battles and signing collective agreements, as the teachers, the workers in LARCO are delaying the implementation of reactive measures.

That’s how we enter the fight, fighting, decisively. We are changing the association in SEH, POTHA, Labor Centers, in order to be stronger to fight for:

  • Single industry contract in the free theater. With substantial increases to compensate for the surge in accuracy and combat organization to establish it as mandatory. For a contract at DIPETHE based on the contract at DIPETHE Patras. To sign a contract.

  • Public and free Performing Arts University. Against the downgrading of our degrees that equates them with IEK studies.

  • To preserve the relative right, the license to use in all audiovisual media.

  • Regular funding and grants from the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to theaters, with income criteria so that it is not directed to big businessmen. Tax exemptions for small theaters.

  • That our work is not replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) technologies as our colleagues are doing in many countries of the world.

  • No colleague’s house should be auctioned.

  • Practical prevention, but also protection, from any kind of abusive behavior on set, filming, above and behind the scene, with the actors being the force of defense of colleagues, away from fear and defeatism. For social protection structures”.
