A large police operation has been underway since the morning with the aim of arresting the hooligans for the incidents outside the volley field in Rentis, where the police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis lost his life.

According to EL.AS, dozens of arrests have been made so far, as well as a large number of searches in houses and vehicles, from which various items of evidence have been confiscated.
Reports indicate that more than 50 people have been brought in and more than 60 arrest warrants have been issued. A total of 150 people are mentioned in the case file, all of whom participated in the incidents and have been identified either through laboratory, or through physical and electronic investigations
Among those arrested, a core of five people are said to be organizers of the incidents, while one of them is also accused of moral complicity in the Lyggeridis murder, as he is said to be the person who brought flares and other objects to Rentis’ closed on the night in question.
In addition, several of those arrested will be charged with other incidents on and off the pitches, with robbery and common law criminal offences, while around 10 people are being investigated for their involvement even in night clubs.
