The authorities have searched dozens of houses and places related to people involved with the fan movement. So far there have been 50 arrests and dozens of arrests.

A major police operation is underway from Sports Violence department of EL.AS throughout Attica for the murder of police officer Lyggeridis in Rentis.

There have been dozens of arraignments and arrests of people allegedly related to the case.

The authorities have searched dozens of houses and places related to people involved with the fan movement.

So far, according to ERT, they have been done 50 arrests and dozens of arrestswhile the operation is ongoing after the completion of the criminal case file.

Those arrested are expected to be brought before the prosecutor to be charged.

Giorgos Lyggeridis had lost his life after being hit by a naval flare in the leg at the end of December, during incidents at the indoor stadium of Rentis, during a volleyball match between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.

He fought for 20 days to keep alive, but did not succeed.

“A large-scale operation of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues of the Attica Security Directorate has been in full progress since the early hours of the morning today to arrest people involved in the incident of the fatal injury of a police officer on 7/12/2023 at a sports event in Renti. So far, dozens of people have been brought in, as well as a large number of searches in homes and vehicles, while various items of evidence have been seized. A newer update will follow.”
