Death of a 31-year-old police officer in Renti: At least 50 charges and arrests, over 150 accused – The case file also concerns other fan incidents

Great police operation has been underway since Sunday evening by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues in collaboration with other services of the Hellenic Police, for the arrest of the persons involved in the fatal injury with a naval flare of the unfortunate 31-year-old police officer, on December 7, 2023 outside from his indoor gym Rentiwhere it took place Volley match.

So far, dozens of people have been imported and it has been done large number of home and vehicle searcheswhile they have also been confiscated various persuasions.

According to information, it is about execution of relevant warrants. So far they have been arrested over 50 people with the number of wanted persons concerned over 60 people and the business to continue. Also according to information, case file that has been filed, it’s over of 150 defendants.

They all treat as accusations, among others, the participation in a criminal organizationwhile the case file it does not only concern the Rentis case but also other fan incidents in which those involved had an organizational and executive role.

For the police operation and its results official announcements are expected upon its completion.

“A large-scale operation by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in the sports grounds of the Attica Security Directorate has been in full progress since the early hours of this morning to arrest people involved in the incident of the fatal injury of a police officer on 7-12-2023 at a sports event in Renti. So far, dozens of people have been brought in as well as a large number of searches in homes and vehicles, while various items of evidence have been seized.”

THE 31-year-old police officer passed away on December 27after a hard battle that he fought for 20 days, after the serious injury to him from a naval flare that he had received during incidents that took place outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis during the “eternal” derby, Olympiacos – Panathinaikos.
