Olympiakos: On the wagon of a roller coaster

Olympiacos won’t even let you be sad. Where you are in your dark with the draw of the football team in “Cleanthis Vikelidis”, the armada of Giorgos Bartzokas comes to do a double in Barcelona and send the whole world of Olympiakos to heaven. With such a roller coaster of emotions, of course we will make the pharmacists rich, but so be it. After all, we are talking about Olympiakos, so cool…

In basketball, of course, the series with Barcelona still has a way to go, but what is certain is that Olympiacos now has the advantage and the knowledge to manage it (s.s. say with a chess player…), while in football the any hopes there were of winning the championship. For me there were few anyway, but now they are nil. And maybe it is better that they did not remain minimal and became zero, but this at this stage at least, I would not like to analyze it…

The worst thing, however, is that when Olympiacos had the opportunity to become the boss for third place, which as I have been writing for a long time is their most realistic goal, they threw it away. He wasn’t bad against Aris, on the contrary, he had periods of time when he played very well and created phases with which he could have cleared the case for victory, but once again he paid for a mistake in defense and donated two points. One might say that these things happen in football too, and they wouldn’t be wrong, they just happen often at Olympiakos. And they usually cost him…

With these and with these, the nightmare scenario that wants Olympiakos to stay out of Europe for the next season, if it finishes fourth and Aris wins the cup, remains alive. In the next matchday, he will probably get a breather by beating Lamia in Karaiskakis, but this is the last theoretically easy match. Then it will only have AEK inside and outside Panathinaikos and PAOK. He will have the dream of the final in the Conference League, of course, but it would be better to dream with his comfort and not under pressure. But what to do? We’ll be on a roller coaster ride until the end of the season and hopefully when we get to the dock we’ll be smiling…

PS1. At the end of the match it is easy to say why he didn’t trust Abi and in “Cleanthis Vikelidis” Mendilibar since the Englishman was coming from a very good performance. Personally, however, I have seen so much in two and a half months from coach Vasco, that I am sure that nothing he does by chance…
