It was supposed to be a derby, but the image of the two teams and of course the final score (5-0), suggests a… walk. Arsenal destroyed Chelsea in the “battle” of London and remain “alive” in the title claim, even if they are not the favourites.
The “gunners” could not have imagined such a victory over the “blues”, but based on the image of the match, there is only one conclusion.
The hosts dominated every corner of the pitch and it is no exaggeration to claim they could have scored… 10 goals.
So chaotic was the difference between the two teams, with the 5-0 final being Arsenal’s biggest win over Chelsea in Premier League history.
It should also be noted that until last night, before half-time, Chelsea had not been beaten by three goals by another London side in the Premier League.
However, Arsenal’s five-point win yesterday puts the “blues” in an extremely difficult position and it is obvious that money alone is not enough for Chelsea to progress to a new era of success.
The Blues’ new management has spent countless millions of pounds on signing players, but Chelsea’s image is disappointing.
A radical restructuring of the club is obviously needed, with decisions that will affect the entire structure of the club and not just the team roster.
And here is the big question that torments Chelsea fans, regarding the future of the team. Chelsea is currently “immersed” in a series of big problems and most importantly, it doesn’t seem to have the “answers”.
The summer is certainly coming but the “recipe” followed last year by the Londoners did not succeed and the question for the management of the “blues” is whether last year’s mistake became a lesson.
Now as far as Arsenal are concerned, Arteta’s side are playing excellent football and on their day they can dismantle any opponent, as they did last night against Chelsea for example.
However, the defeat by Aston Villa at the Emirates, some time ago, may prove to be disastrous in the attempt of the champions to win this year’s championship.
But what is certain is, whether Arsenal wins the championship or not, that the “gunners” play impressive football, offering a rich spectacle.
And this is certainly credited to her coach. Mikel Arteta has been upgrading his team year after year, having great ideas, especially regarding the development of his team.
