Thassos: The Fire Brigade is on alert even after the storm for rekindling

The storm that occurred on the island of Thassos at noon on Sunday contributed to a large extent to limit the risk of flare-ups, while the winds blowing in the area cleared the atmosphere of the area from the smoke.

The large resurgence of the fire that occurred in the early hours of Saturday in Skala Potamias was put under full control this morning, with all the ground forces of the fire brigade, the army and dozens of volunteers remaining on alert.

Erickson firefighting helicopters continued throughout the day to drop water on fronts where the fire had rekindled.

However, the midday strong storm accompanied by local hail and strong winds resulted in the flooding of roads, houses and shops in many areas of the island, while lightning strikes caused small fires near the local communities of Panagia and Limenas, which were dealt with immediately by the fire brigade.
