His family members, his parents and his brother were present.

Upon hearing the decision, they expressed indignation and began to shout to the court “the license, the license” because they did not hear in the sentencing decision anything about removing the license of the accused police officer.

This shocking case took place exactly three years ago in Vasilissis Sofias, outside the Parliament, when the 22-year-old, final year student, died on the asphalt.

Yesterday the public prosecutor in his speech had asked the police officer to be guilty of manslaughter, judging that the defendant “drove recklessly and without the required attention” by turning left to enter the Parliament despite the existence of signaling, arrows on the road, which indicated a mandatory straight path for vehicles.

According to prosecutorthe victim had complicity as he was exceeding the speed limit, but the defendant, with his driving behavior, has the greater percentage of negligence that led to Jason’s death. “There is complicity on the part of the deceased which is taken into account in measuring the sentence of the accused. But the greater percentage of negligence is borne by the defendant, who violated the KOK by making a prohibited turn at the spot,” he said. “The victim was unable to maneuver and fell into the vehicle driven by the defendant,” he added.

The prosecutor emphasized that while there was a legal way for the vehicle to enter the courtyard of the Parliament, i.e. through the Academy, the police officer chose this route acting recklessly.
