A new report on the tragedy of Tempo which contains particularly important findings publishes the documentonews.gr.

This is a report drawn up by the lieutenant general, former deputy chief of the Fire Department and judicial expert of the tragedy in Mati, Andrianus Gurbatsis and which is expected to be handed over to the special appellate investigator Sotiri Bakaimi from relatives of victims of the tragedy. In his report, the experienced lieutenant general e.a. of the Fire Department comes to the conclusion that the explosion in Tempi was caused by a flammable substance carried by the commercial train, while it is a catapult for the way the competent authorities acted, as it points out, due to mistakes and omissions, it resulted in the disappearance of evidence and to change the place of the accident. It is yet another expert report that essentially describes a cover-up in the Tempe tragedy, as the relatives of the victims of the tragedy have denounced.

Mr. Gourbatsis “analyze and evaluate all evidence” that have emerged so far from video material, photographs, reports of the State General Chemistry, findings of experts, etc. With the experience he has as the founder and head for years of the Arson Crimes Directorate (DAEE), he comes to shocking conclusions.

According to Mr. Gurbatsis the “best case scenario for the explosion – ignition” that took place on the evening of February 28, 2023 after the collision of the two trains, is related to “a large amount of flammable material and even in liquid form” carried by the commercial train. Therefore Mr. Gourbatsis concludes that the explosion that was caused “cannot be due to the silicone oils of the transformers of the three electric cars”. In fact, Mr. Gourbatsis emphasizes that the flammable material was stored “in pallet tanks (metal or plastic containers) without excluding another way of loading this cargo, with obvious rupturing and heaving effects”.

“Due to the detection by the G.H.K. in seven samples of the presence of xylene, it is most likely that the flammable substance is attributed to this solvent without excluding the presence of other solvents as well” emphasizes Mr. Gourbatsis.

Mr. Gourbatsis also blames the pre-investigative authorities who went to the scene of the tragedy and investigated the scene of the accident. That is, the Larissa Traffic Police, the investigative office of the DI.P.Y.N. Larisa and the D.A.E.E. of the Fire Department. As he points out, these principles “they did not act and did not take care as they were required by law (cf. articles 180 and 280 of the C.P.D.) directly and specifically during the stage of the autopsy at the scene of the crime, in addition to other serious errors and omissions, to identify, collect, confiscate useful proofs and sending them for examination to the competent forensic or state specialized laboratories, such as the NTUA for the certification of one of the two extrapolated and opposed positions”.

The result is “there should be no evidence, if not only indications, thus causing significant difficulties during the interrogation and essentially there was an operation to disorient (mislead) her”. The forensic expert further argues that “the competent authorities allowed their immediate, coordinated and with the (express or tacit) consent of the authorities, without of course the due approval of Mr. Prosecutor, to hasten their disappearance with the unprecedented for this extent and importance for society as a whole national criminal tragedy, alteration (contamination) of the crime scene and the disappearance of critical evidence and even biological identification material of the victims”.

Also, as noted, “in addition to other crimes for which criminal prosecution has already been instituted and a main investigation has been ordered, the commission of criminal offenses and more specifically the crimes of arson (article 264 of the Criminal Code) in (true) conjunction with the explosion (article 270 ), from which a human risk could arise and resulted in the death of many of the 57 victims”.
