Rafa Juste, Barcelona vice-president, expressed his satisfaction with Xavi’s decision to stay at Barcelona until 2025.
Spanish media reported on Wednesday (25/04) that Xavi has reversed his initial decision and will remain on the Barcelona bench until 2025, with team vice president, Rafa Youste, to confirm it.
The sporting director of the Catalans explained that the driving force for Xavi to make a “turn” was the support of the world, but also the common desire to write history again, staying true to the project they started in November 2021.
“Xavi noticed the enthusiasm of the fans during the Champions League quarter-finals and wanted to continue.
Enthusiasm, commitment and a solid project are the key words. The team will embrace it. We believe we can achieve great things.
It was a conversation between the president and the coach, where Xavi showed his dedication. As a Catalan he has invested deeply in the club and I am sure he will excel.
I’m excited for him because he’s a true Barcelona supporter. In Barcelona we aim for victories.
Last year, we won La Liga and the Super Cup. With six games left this season, we have to give it our all. The prospect of Xavi being part of the new Camp Nou that reopens in November excites me.
I am happy because I have always supported the preservation of our project, which we created two and a half years ago. It was a positive meeting, focusing on the future of the club and our shared desire to make history again.
