AEK turned the supposed derby with Panathinaikos into a performance for a role, with the Kitrinomavros winning 3-0 in New Philadelphia for the 7th matchday of the Super League playoffs. The Union dominated and cruised to a wide victory, which now sees it +4 behind the Greens, who failed to look competitive.

Eliasson scored two goals for AEK, Ponce scored one.

This is how they lined up

For the Union, Athanasiadis was found under the rafters. In defense, Vida-Cullens will play as stoppers and Rota-Hajisafi on the wings. In the midfield the duo was again Szymanski and Jonson, while on the right of the attack Eliasson started and Pineda on the left. Ponce played at the top of the attack and Sergio Araujo behind him. Explosive start and 1-0 for AEK

The hosts entered the match better and quickly imposed their tempo. In the 6th minute, Eliasson created the first good moment of the derby. The Swede crossed from the right, Ponce headed in, missing from a good position. A minute later Union opened the scoring with Eliasson becoming the executioner when he stole the ball on the axis, teamed up with Pineda and with a nice shot on the edge of the area beat Dragovski for 1-0.

Panathinaikos slowly reacted and threatened for the first time in the 9th minute, with Palasios catching the one-on-one, but the ball went just wide. Five minutes later, AEK threatened again when Matias Almeida’s men quickly counter-attacked, but Ponce’s cross went wide.

The rhythm dropped, but AEK found a second goal

In the 34th minute came the next opportunity for Panathinaikos. Bakaseta’s cross from the right, Ioannidis took the header and the ball went just past Athanasiadis’ post. And where everything showed that the two teams would go to the locker room with 1-0, Akaidin’s mistake gave AEK the opportunity to find a second goal. The Turkish defender made a serious mistake, effectively laying the ball to Ponce, who stepped into the area and beat Dagovski to make it 2-0.

The greens raised their lines but did not become threatening

The Greens looked to be more threatening at the start of the second half, with Fatih Terim shuffling the deck and bringing on Vilena and Sporar. But it was AEK who touched the goal, who missed an incredible double chance in the 61st minute. Pineda “emptied” Akaidin and three other Panathinaikos defenders, shot on the crossbar and then Ponce “marked” the post again! However, the Union had shown that it is “fire” in the counterattacks and a few minutes later “cleaned” the derby for good.

3-0 and AEK at +4

In the 69th minute, Matias Almeida’s team “locked in” the victory. Pineda’s individual energy from the left, confusion in the area of Panathinaikos and Eliasson from close range made the final 3-0, who was also the MVP of the Union in the match.
