May 21 strike: Who is participating?

The realization of a 24-hour pan-Hellenic strike on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, its General Council decided ADEDY at the meeting, which took place on 2 April 2024.

ADEDY’s requests

As stated in the relevant announcement of ADEDY, the contentious framework is as follows:

“- Horizontal increase of 10% in the salaries of the employees in the State, in order to deal elementary with accuracy and inflation.

  • Restoring Gifts.
  • Collective agreements on wages.
  • Removal of the 2016–2017 biennium wage freeze.
  • Abolition of the 2% unemployment levy.
  • Increase of the tax-free allowance to 12,000 euros.
  • Increase in unhealthy work allowance.
  • Immediate staffing with permanent employees of all critical public bodies (health, education, social services, insurance, etc.) and upgrading of all necessary infrastructure”.

At the same time, the General Council of ADEDY decided to hold, in the next period, meetings and General Assemblies throughout the country, with the aim on the one hand of informing the colleagues and on the other hand of the better organization of the strike mobilization.

Also, the General Council of ADEDY decided the following:

“- Strike mobilization on Labor Day (May 1, 2024).

  • The support of the mobilization of health workers (POEDIN-OENGE) on May 16, 2024.
  • The support of the mobilizations of the educational federations that are taking place during this time with the strike-abstention from the evaluation.
  • The support of the dismissed trade unionist, D. Antoniou, with a protest rally on Friday, April 5 at the E.K.P.A.”
