Paxos was at the center of online and not only discussions last Saturday (07-02-2022), when a yacht hit a reef and began to sink within minutes. The 3 people on board the boat were rescued after the rapid intervention of the port force which was notified. The operator made a mistake and the yacht hit the Panagia reef. Immediately the boat began to take on water, but fortunately for the good fortune of all, the help they awaited was not delayed.

In the yacht “Green Wishper” of Jersey flag, there were three foreigners, who were rescued by the Coast Guard. According to the announcement of the Authorities, the three passengers were in good health and were safely transported to the port of “Gaios” in Paxos.
The beached vessel was observed tilting due to inflow of water and a floating barrier was installed to prevent pollution, as well as light buoys on the bow and stern for the safety of navigation.

The Port of Paxos, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, prohibited the sailing of the “Green Wishper” until a certificate of seaworthiness was presented by the surveyor monitoring the ship, while no marine pollution was observed.
