The Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman, Pavlos Marinakis, spoke on Realfm 97.8 and Nikos Hatzinikolaou’s show with Antonis Dellatolas, among others, about the European elections, the accuracy, the Greece-Turkey dialogue.
“We have a firm opinion, which in fact proves to be correct, that dialogue can do good for both sides. We believe in dialogue without any willingness to concede our sovereign rights. We believe that this dialogue should continue”, emphasized the Government Spokesperson.
He added: “Our positions are clear. There is one difference that we want to be resolved at the level of international law: the determination of the EEZ and the continental shelf”.
As the Athens-Ankara dialogue explained, it does not mean “that we are naive and ignore the very serious disagreements we have”. “The fact that we are talking does not mean that we agree. This is something that applies throughout time at every level of diplomacy and bilateral relations. There is no way for our country to back down on the issues it wants to do”, emphasized Pavlos Marinakis.
Regarding the European elections, he noted that government officials and ministers will communicate with citizens to listen to their problems and inform them about the government’s work. “We have learned both pre-election and post-election that our every move is based on our communication with citizens throughout Greece. I followed this example as party secretary. This example is also followed by government officials. Citizens’ problems are the driving force behind government work. So this is the main goal of the European elections”, said Pavlos Marinakis.
Regarding the fact that Greek households have been brought to their knees, the government representative stated that the government has 3 main pillars to deal with the phenomenon: increasing the income of citizens, targeted interventions (“godfather basket”, etc.), fines on businesses.
“None of all this is a magic button that you press and disappear the most persistent and the most prolonged accuracy that our country and the rest of the states are facing”, emphasized Pavlos Marinakis.
