Philip Michael Thomas was born in 1949 in Columbus, Ohio. He was part of a large family, with seven half-siblings. His ancestry has roots from America, Africa, Germany and Ireland. From a young age he showed interest in acting and participated in many talent contests.

When he graduated from high school, he won a scholarship to Oakwood College, where he studied Theology and Philosophy.

There, with Detective Sonny Crockett, they mainly go after drug dealers as undercover cops.

The character he played in the series was a skilled and dedicated detective with a strong sense of justice. Detective Tubbs’ light-hearted and outgoing personality, combined with his stylish appearance, endeared him to the public.

In several episodes the relationship between “Sonny” and “Rico” is a central theme, with the cool detective Tubbs holding back the hot-blooded detective Crockett.

After Miami Vice ended, she continued to pursue acting and singing without ever reaching the level of success she had as an actor on the series. Personal life

His longest relationship was with model Kassandra Green whom he married. In their 11 years of marriage, they had five children.
