With significant and careful steps, Giorgos Papapavlou is advancing steadily in his career, whether we are talking about theater or television. And now he is ready for another step, claiming the artistic direction of DIPETHE Patras.

Avoiding useless words, Giorgos Papapavlou prefers to speak with actions and through the work. When we asked him about his decision, he was simple and precise: “I decided to run for the artistic directorship of the Patras Cultural Center because I feel that the new generation of artists of our city must take over and lead by enriching and upgrading the cultural her map! Who is George Papapavlou?

George Papapavlou is an actor, acting teacher and director. He was born and raised in Patras. He is an honors graduate of the Higher Drama School “Iakovos Kampanelis” (St. Varvaras), a final student of the Master’s Program “Performing Arts” majoring in “Contemporary Theater and Dance” (Open University 2022-2024) and a graduate of the Athens School of Law (Department of Law) .

In the last 17 years, he has participated in approximately 40 plays by important Greek directors (Moschopoulos, Houvardas, Kalabrianos, Paterakis, Hatzis, Skourletis (Bijoux de Kant), Mastorakis, Moumoulidis, Pyrgeris, Fezolari, Karatzogiannis, etc.) in major theaters organizations (National Theatre, K.TH.BE, Athens/Epidavros Festival, DI.PE.THE. Patras, THOK, Art Theatre, Porta Theatre, Theater of the New World, DI.PE.THE. Kavala) but also smaller theaters, performing important roles of classical and modern repertoire (Goutierre, Treplieff, Eteocles, Aegisthus, Clytemnestra, Aemon, Agamemnon, Jason, Raskolnikov, Ivan Karamazov, Coriolanus, Beggar, Collector, etc.). In the summer of 2022, he staged the show “Caerus” as part of the “All Greece is a Culture” program.

On television, he has collaborated with Kostas Moutsomytis (Bloody Soils), Panos Kokkinopoulos (Midnight Black), Panagiotis Fafoutis (I saw you), in the 2019-2020 season he starred in the Alpha drama series “Erotas metas” (Ilias), dir. Stefanos Blatsos, in the 2021-2022 season in the third cycle of the series “Wild Bees” (Themis), dir. Lefteris Charitos, while in 2022-2023 he starred in the Alpha series “This night stays” (Dinos) dir. Katerina Filiotou.

He teaches, from 2019 until today, acting at the Higher Drama School “Athenian Stage of Kalvos-Kalambokis”. From improvisation (with Thomas Moschopoulos, Theodoros Terzopoulos, Lydia Koniordou, Yiannis Houvardas, Michael Marmarinos, Andreas Manolikakis, Eleni Skotis, James Palm-University of London) as well as seminars on the management of Cultural Organizations and Strategy from ie University and the University of Maryland. He has been trained for three years (2020-2023) in human resource management, conflict resolution and functional coexistence in team contexts. He was taught singing and vocals by Mirkas Gementzakis, Chara Kefala, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Thanos Petrakis. In 2007, together with his colleagues, he founded the AMKE “Koula i Planidou” in Athens, while in January 2024 he founded the AMKE Athenian Cultural Association – Giorgos Papapavlou.
