“Today this process, so soul-destroying for us, is over and the only emotion left is anger and disgust” pointed out Jason’s father Lalaounis

The father of Jason Lalaounis spoke of anger and disgust after the court’s decision to find the driver-policeman guilty of the crime of negligent homicide. This is the police officer of the parliamentary car which collided outside the Parliament building with the car of 23-year-old Jason Lalaounis in March 2021, as a result of which the latter lost his life. The defendant was imposed 3 year suspended sentence.

“Today this process, so soul-destroying for us, is over and the only emotion left is anger and disgust. Anger at the leniency of the decision and disgust at the theater of the absurd that we have experienced these two days by people who in theory serve the law in their attempt to cover up the crime committed by their particular colleague. They tried to turn white into black with lies and antics,” pointed out his father Jason Lalaounis.

Iason Lalaounis’ mother: “They didn’t even take away his diploma”

For her part, Jason’s mother broke down while speaking to reporters regarding the court’s decision. “You know the decision. This is how Greek justice works. There is no! They didn’t take away his diploma either. I’m so angry, so disappointed!’

He added that he waited until the last moment to hear even something that would entail a penalty, such as the removal of the diploma. He stressed that “it seems inconceivable to me that you can drive down the road having already killed someone.”
